Welcome
I am a PhD Student at Computer Science Department of McGill University (Since September 2009). I'm a member of DISL Lab and I'm working under the supervision of Dr. Bettina Kemme. I'm Persian/Iranian and you can find some of my publication under my full name which is "Seyed Amir Yahyavi Firouz Abadi". In my free time I enjoy playing video games, watching movies and series, swimming, and going out with my friends. I also enjoy reading about Philosophy and I'm very interested in Astronomy.
I received my M.Sc. degree in ECE Department of University of Tehran, Tehran, Iran. My M.Sc. Thesis was on "Sleep Scheduling in Wireless Sensor Networks". I was a member of Router Lab Group under the supervision of Dr. Nasser Yazdani.
I received my B.Sc. degree in Information Technology from CEIT Department of Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic), Tehran, Iran, in 2006. My Thesis was on Fraud Detection in Wireless Cellular Networks under supervision of Dr. Mehdi Dehghan.
Research:
My research is on designing Peer-to-Peer(P2P) Network Engines for Massively Multiplayer Online Games (MMOGs). I switched from Ad-hoc and wireless networks which I worked on in my M.Sc. to P2P networks in my PhD. I'm still doing some background reading and I'm working on Mammoth a multiplayer game research framework. I'm one of the guys that thinks he can change the world through games.
Areas of interest:
- Peer-to-Peer Networks
- Massively Multiplayer Online Games
- Wireless & Ad-Hoc Networks
- Artificial Intelligence
